Witi Ihimaera, Shame Shame Shame! Plagerism of Copyright

As a writer of a large number of years, I am continuously amazed that there are still some who believe one can make an honest mistake(s) when they know they blatantly rip off other authors works without proper acknowledgement. 16 mistakes and counting according to a member of the Listener staff. 

As for the Auckland university award. It needs to be withdrawn from this "thief"  immediately.  If a student of creative writing did this in an exam he/she would run serious risk of suspension and would certainly fail any exam that was placed before him/her.

The hypocrisy of being alledgedly gay, maori, and a professor should not be seen as a reason to excuse his actions  and be forgiving.  Too many people seemed hypnotised by his position and power and want to tread lightly (perhaps like the MPs and their housing rorts) they also have something to hide.

If it was my work he plagierised I would certainly be looking for some for of legal solution, and would expect  that he received some form of rehabilition training and mentoring for his actions. Certainly Auckland university should also be bought to account if it continues to sit on its hands and do nothing.

Time will tell, but alas, I feel my angry waffle, will be like spitting in the wind. A rather pointless excercise.
