How can we foster greater collaboration & talent identification across disciplines?
HOW CAN WE FOSTER GREATER COLLABORATION & TALENT IDENTIFICATION ACROSS DISCIPLINES?
Convenor: Lauren Hughes
Participants: Kelly, Zoe Williams, Wendy Bradford, Denis, Sarah-Jane Blake, Jet Archer, Nicola Kawana, Sally Barnett, Ben Wood, Drew McMillan, John Radford, Anna Maria de Vos Sanchez, Amanda Parsow, Pip Smith
Priority: (dots 4)
Notes:
This is important because it diversifies skills of performers, broadens audience appeal & results in stronger more original work.
It’s all about connection & information formally & informally e.g.
- National database of performers
- Online forum/blog for people to post ideas (is TBI too big / overwhelming?)
- Functions & events – e.g. drinks, speed dating for sharing projects and funding collaborates, workshops and symposiums.
- Better integrated community with existing places & events (e.g. Q Theatre Bar, Fringe)
- Use AK Fringe and other opportunities to make low risk work.
- Involve design & new media early in the project.
- Find a physical space for community to meet/work.
Identified Priorities
Possibly hold a workshop for directors to work with new media
Arrange more regular and informal gathering and events
Talk to Q Theatre about making the cafe/bar an environment that artists will want to frequent.
First or next steps:
Vitamin , Red Leap theatre, Akl Fringe & Torque Agency all had representatives in the discussion keen to collaborate on driving an initiative forward if and when partners emerge.
