RESOURCES FOR SELF-PRODUCING

Convenor: Carrie Rae Cunningham

Participants: Roberto Nascimento, Josephine Searles, Elana McNeil, Sarah-Jane Blake, Merrin

Priority: (9 dots)

Notes:

  • Make most of resources you have.
  • Alternative ways of presenting work
  • Use resources like DANZ, Playwrights and other Performing Arts organisations for mentoring, production.
  • Mentoring Programmes
  • Take advantage of festivals – Fringe, Tempo, Short & Sweet etc. Networking.
  • Approach CNZ and other funding bodies (and other Performing Arts organisations) about the need for workshops and resources on producing and arts management and making printed resources available.
  • Clever ways of marketing and using social networking sites.

Identified Priorities

  • Finding and using resources that are available to you – networking and cold-calling people “in the know” to help.
  • Educating artists on how to produce and manage work (finances, resource, mentors etc.)
  • Volunteer or intern with established or bigger organisations

First or next steps:

  • Look towards Performing Arts organisations for their resources – DANZ, CNZ, Playmarket, STAMP, TEMPO, Actors Equity etc.
