A West Auckland Parody by Andrew Tolhurst

April 10th - May 17th 2009

Exhibition opens Thursday April 9th at 6pm

Corban Estate Arts Centre, 426 Gt North Rd, Henderson  (entrance off Mt Lebanon Lane) Waitakere City

Andrew’s artworks are a reaction to the plastic, fabricated, ‘on the go’ and ‘throw away’ society we have created for ourselves. The artist, troubled by the rubbish accumulating on the streets of his home in Piha, has collected the discarded and well known packaging and has reproduced and manipulated the branding, making identification elusive but strangely familiar.

Andrew is featured in Warwick Browns new book Seen This Century and Warwick will be giving a talk about Andrews work at the CEAC Gallery, on Monday 4th May at 7pm.
