Spark Festival of Media, Arts and Design
Spark Festival is a contemporary arts, media and design festival in Hamilton that brings together in progressive artists and practitioners from world’s creative community. The guests offer specialised presentations and workshops based around their own arts practice, which are free to attend. Details on all events and presenters are up now http://www.spark.net.nz.
The international and national presenters cover a wide range of arts practice - a quick summary of some creative areas covered:
Film: Marina Goldavskaya (director), Guto Barra & Beco Dranoff (director/producer Beyond Ipanema), Onedotzero motion graphics screening
Visual Art: Nicky Deeley (contemporary art), Paul Seawright (photographer), Sara De Bondt (graphic design) John Pule (writer, printmaker, artist)
Music: Sing Songs (band), Beyond Ipanema (film), Morgan Samuel (post-production)
Fashion/Interior Design: Vee Smit (interior design), Denise L’estrange Corbet (World)
Journalism/media: Helen Baxter (digital media), Carly Flynn (TV presenter)
Theatre: Sam Scott & Wes McDowdell (Massive Company)
(Plus much much more – including Pecha Kucha night, Media Arts graduate showcase, an international poster exhibition, the Glue Society, and two NZ film premieres!)
Most presentations take place at Events 1 in the Gallagher Hub, City Campus, Wintec, Hamilton.
