Gleanings

Vast visual fields of rich, carnival-like imagery pervade Linda Holloway’s latest exhibition, Gleanings.  Works reveal a sense of the psychedelic and the kaleidoscopic, where myriad forms, colours and patterns jostle for space and prominence.  Wandering around a fairground under the influence of a hallucinogen would go someway to describing the visual effects.

Holloway describes her paintings as “landscapes of the mind”.  Her work attempts to get past the subjective nature of thought processes, to find a visual language that can be used to communicate the commonalities around the exploration and development of ideas.  Her works tap into an inner visual world composed of fragments, symbols and images collected and stored in the memory and subconscious.
