From perspex, to paper, to the humble cardboard box, no medium is spared in Cross Street Studios' upcoming exhibition, Illustration Friday.

With a bent on showcasing some of Auckland's fresh new talent, the show features the work of nine artists, each with a uniquely different perspective on contemporary illustration.

Between them you'll find the extraordinary talents of a bro'Town animator, a fine artist, a makeup artist for film and theatre, several up-and-coming graphic designers and an obsessed comic book artist. Cross Street Studios provides a venue where the conventions of established galleries do not apply and the public can enjoy some truly wonderful work.

Illustration Friday includes works by Aimee Carruthers, Rick Sweden, Maria Leyden, Stephen Myers, Molly Wolf Mache, Michael Mitchell, Savannah MacIntosh, Kim Shen and Brian Maxwell.

Set to unfold at Cross Street Studios' public gallery from 7pm on the evening of Friday 28 August, the opening will include live illustrations by Maria Leyden. Many of the artworks will be for sale on the night and refreshments will be provided.
