The Art of Doctor Seuss
Theodor Seuss Geisel a.k.a Dr.Seuss, requires little introduction.
He began his career as an editorial cartoonist in the 1920’s and in the years that followed he delivered 44 children’s books, over 400 World War II political cartoons, hundreds of advertisements and countless editorials filled with wonderfully inventive animals, characters and humour.
For the first time in Wellington, The Art of Dr Seuss will be exhibiting at Exhibitions Gallery. The exhibition will house a groundbreaking collection of 70 years of Seuss’ art history. This includes his illustration Art, Unorthodox Taxidermy and his not to be missed Secret Art Collection. Whilst everyone may be familiar with Seuss’ book illustrations most of the public are unaware that Seuss was foremost a visual artist who painted and sculpted for his own enjoyment. Seuss ensured that his estate would not release any of his private collection pieces until after his death. So since his sad passing, new Seuss works are being slowly released to Seuss agents worldwide. The only way to view these historic artworks is to visit one of the exclusive Art of Dr Seuss exhibitions.
For the first time, the media and the public are able to gain a rare and fascinating insight into this great creative mind. Wellington will be experiencing this incredible collection before many New Zealand cities. Limited time only from 6pm - 16 to 24th December.
