'Hunger is a strange silence': A discussion with the creative team behind Van Diemen’s Land

Script to Screen in association with the New Zealand Film Festival is pleased to present a discussion with Jonathan auf der Heide, Oscar Redding and Maggie Miles* the writer/director, writer/lead actor and producer of Australian thriller Van Diemen’s Land.

The film is about notorious cannibal convict Alexander Pearce who has been the subject of numerous songs, books and films. David Geary will lead the discussion will focus on the process of reinterpreting a story which has gained mythical status in the Australian psyche.

Van Diemen’s Land has received rave reviews as a visually stunning debut that invests the story with previously unexplored psychological depth.
