Novemberkinder - German Film Festival New Zealand

Goethe Institut | Novemberkinder

November 2009 marks 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989, and Novemberkinder (November Children) is the name of New Zealand's first ever German Film Festival featuring 20 films to mark those 20 historic years, opening with Novemberkind (November Child).

The wealth of stories and anecdotes around reunification continue to be a source of inspiration for films like Goodbye Lenin and The Lives of Others. Watch out for this exciting constellation of films brought to you by the Goethe-Institut New Zealand.

Our festival comes to life with our stars and experts: We are looking forward to welcome directors Andreas Dresen and Christian Schwochow as well as media expert Dr. Rüdiger Steinmetz!

Andreas Dresen is one of the most successful directors of recent German cinema and a filmmaker of reunification par excellence.

Christian Schwochow's film 'November Child' has been the surprise success of 2008 not only in Germany but also at International Festivals around the world.

Dr. Rüdiger Steinmetz is Professor of Media Studies and Media Culture at the Institute of Communications of the University of Leipzig with a special focus on East German media history.
