Domestic Moments & Abstracted Visions Exhibition
An exhibition of paintings by Rebecca Holden and Shivaun Hogan. Held at the Square Edge Gallery in Palmerston North.
The paintings by Rebecca Holden explore moments of motherhood, how becoming a mother changes how we see ourselves as individuals. Along with the motherhood pieces are a series of small paintings based around the experience of sharing a cup of coffee with a friend. So many things are discussed around the humble coffee cup.
Shivaun Hogan has produced paintings around our conflict about wanting the best of both worlds. Nature versus society. we enjoy the beauty of our landscape but we also want the conveniences of our modern world - but at what cost?

My husband and I live on a lifestyle block with our 2 sons. Currently I divide my time between following my passions - painting, graphic design, which I do on a contract to contract basis, and looking after my children. My professional background is in graphic design which I have been doing for 15 years. My design career has taken many different routes. Including web design, publications design and illustration. This passion for creativity in my life lead me to follow another love and that is painting. Most recently I had a very fulfilling exhibition in Palmerston North called "Domestic Moments and Abstracted Visions". I enjoy doing paintings that have a lot of symbolism and always hope that someone will connect with it on some level.
