CHART Intl Connection Session w/ Cary Caldwell

Cary Caldwell, originally from Christchurch, spends most of his year working festivals internationally.

He spends 4-6 months in the US, working as Event Planner for the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas (www.sxsw.com), before heading to Brighton, UK to work as Conference Production Manager for The Great Escape (www.escapegreat.com). He then rolls straight over to production for the Lovebox Festival in London (www.lovebox.net/weekender).

To fill in any gaps he heads out on tour with upcoming UK artists, Mumford & Sons (www.myspace.com/mumfordandsons) as their road manager. He is also working as Event Director for a proposed festival at Angkor Wat in Cambodia, slated for January 2011.

Cary is currently back in Christchurch for several weeks, working online from home, as one of the administrators for the SXSW artist submission ‘grading’ process where up to 11,000 artists submit to perform at the festival…and every submission needs to be reviewed at least four times by various members of the international music community.

Cary will be at the Dux to discuss the submission process for festivals, what goes into them, and answer any related questions.
