Public Talk SCAPE 2010: Current Art, Future City
Current Art, Future City- An Introduction to SCAPE 2010 presented by Blair French
Blair French, convener of the curatorial group for SCAPE 2010 Christchurch Biennial of art in public space, will present the framework for SCAPE 2010, locating it in a broader field of art in public space internationally. Blair will also provide an introduction to the practices of artists participating in SCAPE 2010.
SCAPE 2010 will build upon the achievements of previous SCAPE events, but will consolidate and focus on the production of a smaller number of high impact art-in-public-space projects. Artists projects are being developed in dialogue with, and located at, strategic sites within the inner city, probing, refocusing and enhancing both existing and future projections of Christchurch’s inner city as a shared, civic space.
Blair French, convener of the curatorial group for SCAPE 2010, is the Executive Director of Artspace Visual Art Centre in Sydney, Australia's leading international residency focused contemporary art space dedicated to supporting artists in the development and presentation of new work. Blair is joined by Julia Morrison and William Field, who together, make up the curatorial group for SCAPE 2010.
Venue: Philip Carter Family Auditorium, Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu
