ANZAC Tales from Te Papa
This ANZAC day, TVNZ 6 will honour those who died and served in military operations for our country with a special compilation of Tales from Te Papa’s military-themed episodes.
Tales From Te Papa profiles the exciting and significant pieces that are held in our national museum but are normally unavailable for the public to view.
This special is a historical take on New Zealand's role in the war and takes us from a look at 1940's women trading their fancy frocks for overalls all in the name of the war effort, to the many brave recruits who have served in the Royal NZ Airforce - including a special bear with some sky high stories.
Presenter Simon Morton discovers how hard it was to load and fire a flintlock musket, and a moving look at a soldier's Christmas is featured. Their Christmas cards show the hot and dusty life of a digger in the desert and were sent to friends and family back home.
