The Walters Prize, a biennial award, is New Zealand's most prestigious contemporary art prize. It recognises an artist who has made an outstanding contribution to contemporary art in New Zealand in the two years prior and is held at the Auckland Art Gallery. As anticipation builds closer to the announcement of the 2010 winner by the as yet unannounced, confidential international judge, this course offers an in-depth investigation and discussion of each of the four finalist's exhibitions, with the aim of determining for ourselves which exhibition we would select as the winner and why.
