Save Darfur fundraising event!

It amazes me how many people have no idea about the genocide in Darfur, and that the world is just standing by, watching, and doing nothing, just like what happened in Rwanda.

So, this event would include a movie screening, petition signing and of course, food, drink and goodie bags. With an entry price of $10!

As far as I am aware, this will be the first event held on behalf of Darfur in the whole of New Zealand.

Here is a bit of background: The genocide in Darfur started in 2003, with an estimated 300,000 people killed in the first 2 years.
Darfur is a region in the West of Sudan, where the recently "re-elected"government is headed by Omar Al Bashir (the first sitting head of state to be indicted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity).
Overall, the UN estimates that roughly 4.7 million people in Darfur (out of a total population of roughly 6 million) are still affected by the conflict as fighting between the rebel movements and the government continues.

So let's take action. Invite your friends and family along to this event. Even all the way over here in New Zealand, we can make a difference. STAND UP FOR DARFUR!
