Cate PatesWhen I’m working with clay I try to portray the joy and stillness that I feel. I’m inspired by patterns, texture and nature. The surface decoration tells of thoughtful moments when I feel a deep connection; pieces of a pictorial narrative that make up a story. My pieces are purely expressive responses- they are not functional wares.
