Apocalyse Cow: Remnants of a Lost Civilisation

An Art Exhibition by local Wellington artist Thom Davey.

An apocalyptic event has wiped out much of life on earth, leaving only mysterious relics of a missing era.

The inspiration for the show comes from the book “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy, which left such a lasting impression that for months my art works all had a grey, dusty, rusty theme.

The art works are predominately 3D scenes, mostly constructed from recycled materials.

The idea is to show that much of what we produce will decay much more slowly than us, beings of skin and bone, and leave an almost permanent scar where humanity once dwelled.

A reflection of today's throwaway attitude, and all the cliches surrounding it.
