Mid Winter Arts Festival - Performance 1 August
The Exhibition Hall in Forum North is to be transformed for the weekend's festivities, and will host the Main Stage and a performance programme all weekend long. Performers from across Northland are gathering for the festival - and will be there to showcase their art form to you.
An alfresco dining area at the end of the hall will be the place to be to enjoy delicious foods with a wonderful view of entertainment.
Take a look at the programme for the main stage for Saturday the 31 July and Sunday 1st August and be sure to come along.
10:00am The Joy of Opera & Classical Music
Opera North is a voluntary group of singers who specialise in presenting high quality Operatic and Popular Musical performances for the enjoyment of the Northland Community. Under the leadership of Joan Kennaway all members are encouraged to develop their singing skills and an increasing number of younger members are now successfully starting professional musical singing careers. Anyone attending an Opera North performance can be assured of a professional, enjoyable occasion.
International Flute Salad - Fun pieces from different places
Clare Penny is a passionate, dedicated and informed teacher, who aims to bring out the best in every student at every playing level. She has a flourishing teaching practice, and is a regular performer as both a concert soloist and as a member of various ensembles. Clare has lived in the Bay of Islands since 2006.

11:30pm Dances of Samoa
The Samoan Northland Community Inc is performing at the Mid Winter Festival. We will be performing Samoan dances for the Festival, dancing items by the children and the ladies. We are sure the Northland community will enjoy watching us perform.
12:00pm Celtic Rhythm: Anam Cara
1:00pm Sing for Joy – TOGETHER - with Max Maxwell
Visiting Auckland choir leader, Max Maxwell, is presenting a singing workshop. Max is a singer, musician and heart warmingly good guy. He dances around enthusing his singers, makes every single person feel they are the best thing that has happened to him all day and is relentlessly buoyant. Max’s favourite proverb (from Zimbabwe) reads “If you can walk you can run, if you can talk you can sing”
2:00pm Long Louis Circus Performance
A Inspiration to young performers, Louis has had lots of experience performing locally over the last few years, has had television appearances and has performed at the Belfast Festival of Fools, Theatrical and Circus shows in Northern Ireland. Irish Circus skilled physical comedian, performing skilful juggling and dangerous circus stunts with very tall unicycles and a bit of Irish dance. Including Bucket loads of comedy, using audience participation and making a right fool of himself he performs a highly entertaining and memorable show for all to enjoy.
