Direct Aid: Haiti Fundraising Concert
San Francisco Bathhouse
4 February, 8:30pm
$15 waged $10 unwaged

I worked in Haiti for 3 months last year with a Cultural Centre called Pye Poudre.
They are a collective of musicians and actors who run a library and meeting place and do a lot of work in the Haitian community especially for young people with a literacy programme and other activities. Many of the people involved in the centre are social workers and teachers as well as being artists.
The recent quake destroyed the centre. Tragically, two of the actors with whom I worked have been killed. Several children have lost parents in the disaster and have been left in the care of people from Pye Poudre. Most have lost their homes. All have lost family or loved ones.

I have decided to put on a benefit concert for Pye Poudre. I thought it made more sense than doing another benefit for a big NGO where we didn't know where the money was going and how much was being caught up in beauracracy.

Several bands have kindly agreed to participate.
Harbour City Electric
The Yoots
The Orchestra of Spheres
Big Boxman
And my own band, Lucien Johnson Quintet will kick off the evening.

The concert will be at the San Francisco Bathhouse on Thursday the 4th of February. Bands start at 8:30 pm but there will be entertainment from Big Boxman from the early evening. Tickets are $15 waged, $10 unwaged and can be purchased on the door.

All proceeds go to Pye Poudre.
The idea is that it is an inclusive event and people can donate more if they wish.
