'The Godwits'- Artist residency and exhibition
Wellington's Michael Fowler Centre hosts artist Paul Forrest's latest exhibition 'The Godwits' from 26 Feb - 21 Mar as part of Fringe 2010. Paul will be working away at the easel every day from 10am till late providing the opportunity for the public to watch and meet a visual artist at work.
Since his last major exhibition in 2008 this prolific Wellington artist has been shut away in his studio obsessively painting up a storm. Now these new creations are being unleashed on the public for the first time in the foyer of the Michael Fowler Centre as part of Fringe 2010.
Paul describes his paintings as a mix of modern hieroglyphics and maps of other dimensions. He’s interested in creating paintings that people can look at for hours and constantly see knew things whilst being seduced by the richness of colour and compositional structure.
Paul has become a regular at festival time with this being his 4th residency in the Michael Fowler Centre foyer and has been working on this exhibition for the last 2 years.
“In my opinion this is my most original and uncompromising body of work yet and I hope as many people as possible get to see it”, says Paul
