PARIHAKA INTERNATIONAL PEACE FESTIVAL 2010
The Parihaka International Peace Festival started in 2006 at the historic Parihaka Paa, site of one of the darkest episodes in Aotearoa's colonial history. The kaupapa behind the festival is peace and non-violence, as taught by the community's 19th century leaders Tohu Kakahi and Te Whiti O Rongomai.
Each year some of NZ's top performing acts appear at the festival, as well as speakers, poets and film-makers. The 2010 festival runs from Thursday 7th January to Monday 11th January - confirmed performers include Fat Freddy's Drop, Herbs, House Of Shem, King Kapisi, Ladi 6, Moana & The Tribe and SJD. Others to be announced.
