Luminate Festival 2010

Returning for its third year, Luminate is an earth friendly festival of music, dance, art, creativity and sustainability on Canaan Downs, Takaka Hill. Re-energise on the dancefloor, participate in workshops, be inspired about living sustainably, receive a massage, join in drumming around the fire, relax with a warm chai, watch an enlightening movie, be in harmony with nature, and celebrate a sense of conscious community at this unique, five day, arts and cultural event.

Join us to celebrate the ancient summer harvest festival of Lughnasadgh, on the full moon midway between the summer solstice and autumn equinox.

Music at Luminate features a world class line-up of performers from Aotearoa/New Zealand and overseas. A unique, flowing journey of live music, world grooves, tribal rhythms, psytrance, progressive, minimal tech, breaks, house, dub, dub-step, reggae, funk, folk, roots, soul, ambient, esoteric beats and more...Find your rhythm on the two dancefloors, the chillout zone, the tribal drum circle or the acoustic jam space. Bring an instrument and join in the fun.

KISS at Luminate! – the very popular Knowledge and Inspirational Sharing Sessions: an extensive programme of workshops covering a wide range of holistic, cultural and environmental topics.

Organic refreshments, arts, crafts & market stalls, healing zone, the Flaming Jugglepoitoy zone with fire performers at night & circus skills workshops by day, enlightening movies & documentaries, spacious camping, solar showers and amenities....all set 2000ft up a quartz crystal and limestone mountain surrounded by native bush.

Luminate is a Clean Environment event. There will be no rubbish bins or recycling on site!

Be prepared to pack out what you bring in and leave no trace.

Food stalls will serve onto ceramics or direct to your own plate and cup. There will be a composting area for biodegradeables.

The festival site layout and art installations have been designed using sacred geometry, natural materials and re-used resources. RRRESPECT zero waste.

Luminate is a family friendly, non-alcohol event. Dogs are not permitted.
