Discover Ancient Worlds Hidden Beneath the Ocean
In early January, climb aboard JOIDES Resolution, for this once in a lifetime opportunity to see a scientific research ship in action!
You could be part of a seven day programme with expert scientists from GNS Science, which includes a tour of the ship itself.
This specially designed ship undertakes drilling of the ocean floor while floating up to 6km above...very tricky! Scientists use rock samples from the seafloor to look back in time and discover what the earth was like millions of years. One discovery from the seafloor beneath the Arctic Ocean revealed that region of the world had a sub tropical climate 55 million years ago!
If you are a budding scientist, oceanographer or environmentalist this is a great opportunity to explore a unique science ship, work in a GNS laboratory and make your own discoveries about the Earth's history.
