An Evening of Hindustani Classical Music
Rajendra Kandalgaonkar is one of the most loved and respected exponents of Kirana Gharana in Hindustani Classical Music. Endowed with a rich and resonant voice, his performances are lavished with emotion, creative improvisations, and a complete mastery of rhythm.
Mr. Kandalgaonkar’s training began under Pandit Vishnu A Ghag of Gwalior Gharana and later under the maestro himself,‘Bharat Ratna’ Pandit Bhimsen Joshi of Kirana Gharana. He is also a reputed teacher and the headmaster of one of India’s finest music institutes, Sawai Ghandhar va Sangeet Mahavidyalay. As per tradition, his student Balamohan Shingade will open the concert, followed by a tabla composition by Deepak Madhur and Basant Madhur.
Rajendra Kandalgaonkar will be accompanied by Basant Madhur on tabla and Prof. Shukdev Madhur on harmonium.
