New Zealand International Science Festival 2010
Can we tempt your taste buds? Featuring six days of fun and truly stimulating experiences, New Zealand’s only international science festival themed ‘food for thought’ opens up the world of science to everyone. Experience firsthand ‘Cooking without Looking’ or workshops from the ‘Science of Beer’ to the ‘Science of Curry’. Listen to leading experts discuss and debate topics ranging from deficiencies in our diets through to the global water shortages. From theatre ‘Dante’s Laboratory – the science of sin’ to kid’s workshops galore, this festival showcases science, technology and the environment in a way you’ve never experienced before.
New Zealand’s only international science festival has developed, managed and produced six events in Dunedin every two years since 1998.
The New Zealand International Science Festival celebrates innovation, discovery and research excellence in science. The festival explores real issues to debunk myths, challenge perceptions and open up the world of science to everyone.
Highlights of the festival include appearances by world-renowned scientists, talks, debates, dynamic interactive events, theatre and expos – all designed to sharpen visitors’ imaginations.
The festival is a platform for organisations, institutions and individuals to participate in and deliver a variety of learning experiences which promote their activities to the wider community.
Up to 40 volunteers help run the festival events and thousands of visitors from all over New Zealand and overseas participate. The festival attracts a significant amount of high-profile local, regional and national media coverage, in print, radio and TV. www.scifest.org.nz
