Are you a film-lover who would like to delve into the elements of production as well as learn some critical approaches to film studies? Film clips will be used to illustrate developments in style and genre throughout the history of cinema, with special reference to New Zealand. The impact of sound and the effects of lighting, props and camera movement will be explored as will the issues of dubbing and subtitles. An interactive component is included where you will analyse scenes from a film of your choice, using the skills you have acquired during the course.
