Susanne Khouri, Jacqueline Aust, Susan Hurrell-Fie
27th July - 14th August 2010
Opening: Tues 27th July, 5.30 – 7pm
The Exhibition ‘Impressions’ presents the work of three artists print makers Susanne Khouri, Jacqueline Aust and Susan Hurrel-Fieldes.
Each artist explores traditional as well as contemporary methods of printmaking to express their ideas.
Susanne Khouri’s work is about her impressions, remembered or imagined, of the varied manifestations of the Mangrove landscape along the coast of New Zealand. The viewer is left with thoughts of the moon and the rhythmic push and pull of the tide.
Jacqueline Aust explores the marks left by human habitation and weather. She is fascinated by the ‘abstract works’ on walls and surfaces all around us.
The work of Susan Hurrell-Fieldes was initially inspired by the tragedy and horror of 9/11. The images broadcast around the world set in motion an exploration of the tensions between strength and vulnerability. She expresses this through use of line and how it can at once connect, dissect and intrude.
