Mid Winter Arts Festival - Performance 31 July
The Exhibition Hall in Forum North is to be transformed for the weekend's festivities, and will host the Main Stage and a performance programme all weekend long. Performers from across Northland are gathering for the festival - and will be there to showcase their art form to you.
An alfresco dining area at the end of the hall will be the place to be to enjoy delicious foods with a wonderful view of entertainment.
Take a look at the programme for the main stage for Saturday the 31 July and Sunday 1st August and be sure to come along.

The Whangarei Pipe Band will awaken Northland with upbeat and traditional tunes! Come and march toward Forum North and enjoy sounds of Scottish pipes blend with African and International drumming around the big tree.

10:30am m Rock n Roll Dance
The Whangarei Rock N Roll Club will be offering a fun filled event featuring 5 min of movement to music for toddlers called toddler rock and get some little ones joining in from the crowd. We will also show casing our great dancers in a demo of rock n roll showing the wide variety of dancers that we have from the experienced to the not so experienced showing you how easy it is to get dancing. They will throw in some great line dancing for you to join in with.

12:30pm Salsa Dance Workshop
After a salsa demonstration by the teacher of the Whangarei Salsa Dance Group, a group of beginners will do a salsa demo, followed by a Bachata demonstration. Bachata is another dance and the music has a beautiful beat. Following that they will do the workshop and we expect people to get up and have a go. You can try basic salsa steps and finally they will do the Merengue. This is another dance with an awesome beat, it is easy and great exercise. This is your chance to try salsa, so come along and be prepared to shake your BOOTY. See you there.

Ra is an Educator, Community Arts Worker, and Performance Artist. She shares traditional African dances and rhythms as well as afro-inspired choreography as a method of creating community and helping individuals heal and grow. Ra is deeply respectful and keenly aware that the information she shares comes directly from ancient cultures and believes that open-hearted participation can allow access to deeper, subtle wisdom about ourselves and the world we live in. Ra's classes are high energy, joyous, and inclusive. No dance experience is necessary. Wear clothing you can move in and bring water.
3:30pm Bare Feet
Bare Feet formed just over 3 years ago after frequenting local jam sessions in Whangarei. The four members seemed to have a lean toward doing there own music and has kept them together to this day. Consisting of two males and two females they bring an easy listening style of songs with a distinct kiwiana flavour. http://www.myspace.com/pau.hine
