Summer Sounds in the Park

Manukau City Council offers a great way to round off a summer weekend when its ‘Summer Sounds in the Park’ return in March.

Jointly presented by Manukau Arts and Parks, Summer Sounds is a free concert series held at four of the city's parks in Cockle Bay, Flat Bush, Manurewa and Mangere East.

From the lively Latin rhythm of Banda Latina, swing, shuffle and jive of Prima Swing Riot, the great country rock of Brendon Ham & Back II Basix or the easy listening sophistication of Allegro, there is something to appeal to everyone’s musical tastes.

“This year we’ve extended our venues to include Barry Curtis Park and Cockle Bay Reserve,   so even more people will be able to enjoy a summer’s afternoon of live performance,” says Arts Manager Leisa Siteine.

Entry is free, bring along your picnic basket and blanket and enjoy the days of summer with some great music. A full timetable for the concerts is below.

If wet or unsuitable weather, concerts will be cancelled. Phone after 12 noon for updates: Nathan Homestead 267 0180; all other venues 262 5104.
