An Introduction to Botanical Painting

This course provides an introduction to the specialised art form of botanical painting. To begin, you will look at examples of historical botanical art, and different ways of depicting plants. You will learn how to deal with basic perspective and surface effect techniques in water colour painting and create drawings and paintings which are convincingly three-dimensional. The course is suitable for those with little experience in botanical drawing, but will also be useful for artists who would like to refresh their skills in analytical and realistic botanical drawing and painting. A materials list will be provided prior to the start of the course. Limited to 14 participants
