Do you want to broaden your knowledge, understanding and appreciation of classical music? Would you like to develop your active listening skills? Then join us in this course where questions and discussion are encouraged and no previous musical experience is required! Topics include: Composers and characteristics of music from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic periods and 20th Centuries; How music communicates - the relationship between composer, performer and listener; How composers manipulate musical ingredients to communicate with the audience, and how to follow the musical "threads" or motives through a composition to gain an understanding of the underlying structure.
