Marketing Your Book to Independent Bookstores
In these challenging times, writing a book and having it published is only half the battle," says Booksellers NZ Membership Manager, Cherie Arnott.
We want to help by providing you with information and a first-hand account from two independent booksellers and a publicist.
Independent bookstores can be willing, even indispensable partners in selling your book, so learning how to connect with them will make your marketing efforts more productive.
Two experienced bookstore operators, John McIntyre of The Children's Bookshop in Wellington and Anna Hunt of Marsden Books in Wellington, along with a yet-to-be-named publicist, will feature in the seminar.
This session will cover many topics ranging from:
How and when to approach bookstores
Why booksellers expectations may differ from yours
How authors events in bookstores work
Whether hiring a publicist is a good idea
What you should know about the politics of bookselling
This seminar will be held on Saturday 13 March 2010 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Wellington from 1.30 to 3.30 pm.
