Scrapyard Cabaret

Scrapyard Cabaret: Original jazz grooves, dirty blues and performance poetry.

The University of Auckland is presenting this preview performance of Káren Hunter’s new show Scrapyard Cabaret.

Pulling stories from her last two albums; Rubble (2007) & Words&Groove (2010), performance artist Hunter sings, plays, speaks and scats her way through original music, embellishing stories and bridging the gap between the dangerous and the mundane.

The legendary television studio known as ‘Studio One’ of the Shortland St Kenneth Myers Centre will be the venue for this preview. The University of Auckland uses this building now to host several Music and Dance programmes.

Scrapyard Cabaret features the following musical collaborators:

Hunter - Vocals & Guitar
Aaron Coddel – Bass (King Kapisi, Caitlin Smith, Jennifer Ward-Leeland)
Neil Watson – Guitar (Anika Moa, Mel Parsons)
Adam Tobeck - Drums
Jess Curtis - Vocals
Sung Jin Hong - Trumpet
