Community Resilience workshop
An inherent quality of any living system, including the communities and bioregion in which we live is change, both gradual and immediate - It is not a question of if but when. Resilient cultures and communities are flexible and capable of responding effectively to uncertainty and surprise as well as capturing and harnessing positive opportunities as they arise. This workshop explores how natural and human communities prepare, respond and adapt to change. Participants will undertake a design activity that investigates strategies to improve the resilience and regenerative capacity of the Auckland bioregion. This workshop is ideal for community leaders, Transition groups, families and individuals wanting to up skill and develop practical knowledge of how to develop and improve local resilience.
The guest tutor for this workshop is Michele Daly, one of Auckland's premiere experts in the field of risk management and emergency planning. Come spend an informative and invaluable day learning about resiliency and design as it applies to Auckland.

"In a modern society we live in a complex network of natural, social, economic and built environments. The failure in one place can have surprising, and potentially disastrous, consequences in others. Our objective of safer, more resilient communities can be achieved only drawing together knowledge and expertise from across all the environments we live" John Hamilton
