Crafts & Arts in Northland (CAN)
Crafts & Arts in Northland or CAN is a not for profit club with the aim of encouraging, teaching and inspiring members in crats and paintings. Crafts for sale cover a wide variety of skills, including bags, shell work, homespun knitting, folk art, ceramics, babywear, machine knitting, embroidery, cards, dolls, teddy bears, soya candles & soap just to name a few. Art works in in all mediums and styles from traditional to abstract.
CAN was formed in 1974. Their aim is to encourage, teach and inspire members with their crafts and art works. Monthly meetings are held where paintings are critiqued, helpful advice offered and crafts shown. Various speakers give talks and demonstrations on arts and crafts at the meetings in a social atmosphere.
Art workshops are held regularly for members benefit. Displays of members work has been been held in Whitcoulls window and Farmes Arcade during the year.
New members are always welcome and recieve a regular newsletter.
