Charlie Dark on Poetry and the Spoken Word

Charlie Dark is a writer, producer and DJ who has had a dynamic impact on the poetry and performance scene with his flamboyant gestures and vocal gymnastics.

A member of the critically acclaimed hip hop inspired trio Attica Blues, Charlie had already established a reputation for pushing the boundaries of imagery and musicality by the time he entered the international poetry scene.

He has toured the world both with the band and solo, and makes regular appearances on the international literature and spoken word circuit.

It is New Zealand’s largest literary festival, annually celebrating reading, writing and big ideas through the presentation of more than 100 international writers and thinkers to over 30,000 strong audience. The 2012 Festival will take place 9-13 May.
