William Taylor
Acclaimed writer William Taylor has published over 30 novels for children and young adults since 1981, many of which are available internationally and in translation.
From the hilariously comic to the seriously sensitive, his books include: Possum Perkins (1986); Agnes the Sheep (1991); Knitwits (1992), the award-winning The Blue Lawn (1994), The Fatz Katz (1995); Jerome (1999); Spider (2002), Gladys the Goat (2005); and Land of Milk and Honey (2005) -- based on real-life experiences of British children sent as refugees to Australasia during the First World War.

Set up in 1999 by a group including writers Peter Wells and Stephanie Johnson, the Festival is now run by the Auckland Writers & Readers Festival Charitable Trust with a core staff of four led by General Manager Anne Rodda and Artistic Director Anne O’Brien. It is New Zealand’s largest literary festival, annually celebrating reading, writing and big ideas through the presentation of more than 100 international writers and thinkers to over 30,000 strong audience. The 2012 Festival will take place 9-13 May.
