This exhibition showcases a series of works based on Chris’s frequent trips to the Chatham Islands as both a geologist and an artist. These beautifully atmospheric etchings convey his admiration for the dramatic land and seascapes of these remote islands. With this series Chris captures the sense of mystery as well as tranquility found in the moorlands and native bush of the Chatham Islands – very much “a land apart” from mainland New Zealand.

Solander: works on paper is a gallery dedicated to NZ and international prints and drawings. The gallery hosts regular exhibitions and holds an extensive selection of prints encompassing contemporary etchings, screenprints, woodcuts, mezzotints as well as papercuts and drawings.
Located in upper Willis st, Solander is in the same building complex as the Mark Hutchins Gallery and a hop skip and a jump away from buzzing Cuba st. There are a variety of artists represented - both emerging and more established - in portfolios held at the gallery.
