MISERY R.I.P DECEASED ESTATE AUCTION

More than 13 years of Misery is over for Tanja Jade Thompson and she is heading to Thailand to help Burmese refugee children.

The popular 28-year-old artist has painted under the Misery label since she was a teenager as one of Auckland's only female graffiti artists, brightening city streets with her colourful characters.

Since then she has had a string of successful ventures, including running a boutique in K Road, designing a best-selling range for American brand Blue Q and collaborating with New York fashion designer Anna Sui on her T-shirt lines.

But a new chapter is opening for Thompson, who has begun to feel suffocated by the Misery brand. On Thursday 4 November, through the support of Webb's, Misery is having a "deceased estate" auction of over 100 items spanning Misery's career and afterwards Misery will go on to make art under her real name Tanja Jade.
