German art writer & critic Vanessa Müller at SCAPE

Art & Industry’s SCAPE Biennial of Art in Public Space is New Zealand’s only international contemporary art biennial dedicated to public art. SCAPE 2010 commissioned seven new large-scale temporary public artworks that will join with four of the city’s permanent works to form a public art walkway.

SCAPE and the Goethe-Institut host the inaugural critical writing workshop facilitated by German art writer and critic Vanessa Joan Müller, Director of Düsseldorf Kunstverein and well-known curator of many contemporary art events and exhibitions, on Thursday 23 Sep 2010.

Vanessa Joan Müller, born in 1968, has been the director of the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen in Düsseldorf since September 2006. Müller graduated from the Ruhr-Universität in Bochum with a degree in art history and film studies. From 2000 to 2005 she worked as a curator at the Frankfurter Kunstverein, Frankfurt/Main, and in late 2005 became academic director of the project “European Kunsthalle” in Cologne, which explores different models for a potential art institution. In September 2006 she was also appointed director of the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen in Düsseldorf.
