Exhibition ‘Frozen in Time. Photographs of Dance.’
As part of the Goethe-Institut’s dance initiative tanzconnexions the exhibition Frozen in Time. Photographs of Dance will be shown as part of the Tempo Dance Festival in Auckland as well as The Body Festival in Christchurch. The exhibition showcases works by nine dance photographers and visual artists from Germany who have a special way of looking at dance theatre.
Central to this exhibition are different, often contradictory aesthetic perspectives that enable the audience to develop a comparative view on today’s photographic discourse on dance. The photographers explore dance forms from contemporary dance to classical ballet, focussing on choreographers like Sasha Waltz, Philipp Gehmacher and William Forsythe.
