Today's picture books are increasingly sophisticated and experimental in their concept and composition. Word/image relationship, pace and sequencing, and compositional devices are all essential elements if your book is to work. Storyboarding helps you as an illustrator work out the relationship between text and pictures and gives a bird's-eye overview of the narrative. Using the story you have written or selected you will work through the process of storyboarding and the production of a dummy book which will reflect your understanding of the practices involved in the process of illustrating a picture book. A materials list will be provided prior to the course. You will have competent drawing skills and will come with a completed story to work with, either your own or a borrowed one, (a nursery rhyme is fine). You may have already attended the Children's Book Illustration: Part One course. Limited to 14 participants
