Robin Kewell Film Night - Kneehigh Theatre
Robin Kewell Film Night11 September 2010
Imagination Burning (27 mins)
Kneehigh Threatre is an international theatre company based in Cornwall (UK). They've travelled the globe performing their unique style of theatre, this film shows some of their incredibly varied work. Often performed outside in locations such as castles, cliff tops, quarries or industrial wastelands, Kneehigh productions often have a nightmarish, surreal feel. In the autumn of 2007 they toured village halls in Cornwall with Blast! A Cornish Exposé Performed by 3 Complete Idiots! and presented Noël Coward's Brief Encounter in Birmingham and at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds. They are currently touring their production of Don John, based on the story of Don Juan. Many of Kneehigh's plays were written by the late Nick Darke who was best known as playwright but was also a writer, poet, lobster fisherman, environmentalist, beachcomber, politician, broadcaster, film-maker and chairman of St Eval Parish Council. The film will be presented by Robin Kewell who has worked closely with Kneehigh for the last 20 years, his film features extracts from their performances with some of the main players of Kneehigh including Mike Shepherd who founded the company 30 years ago.
The Nine Lives of Dudley Sutton (23 mins)
