Indonesian Sumatran Dance workshop

Come and experience randai, martial arts dance theatre from the highlands of Sumatra, Indonesia. Instructor Bapak Arif Anas will give an interactive workshop based on the legend of Intan Kumala, that will include movement and body percussion from the ancient dance traditions of the Minangkabau people from West Sumatra.

Gamelan Padhang MoncarGamelan Padhang Moncar is a Javanese percussion ensemble that plays traditional and new music. We are based at the New Zealand School of Music. Formal courses are offered through the university but new members are always welcome to come and have a go, regardless of musical background.
