An Evening with Stephanie Bennett, Producer.
Stephanie and her US Company, Delilah Films, produced the first ‘rockumentary’- “The Compleat Beatles” - in l981 and subsequently produced and directed some 50 documentaries and concerts featuring major rock stars, such as Chuck Berry, Marianne Faithful, Roy Orbison and Joni Mitchell.
She was one of early pioneers filming with HighDef video, recognizing the future of television going this way.
Two years ago Stephanie moved to New Zealand where she recently produced a documentary for Maori Television on the New Zealand sculptor “Chris Bailey: Ringa Whao”. She is currently developing a feature film entitled “A Bonfire in My Mouth” which focuses on the people who helped launch the iconic “Rainbow Warrior”.
Stephanie’s goal is to develop and produce human stories that both resonate, inform and support a healthy New Zealand film industry. She is conscious of the hurdles women have to overcome in the business and hopes her experiences can be an inspiration to young women starting in the industry today.
Stephanie was recently appointed to the Board of WIFT NZ.
This event will also be a change to meet with recently appointed WIFT NZ ED, Susi Newborn.
MC for the event, which will include some clips of Stephanie’s films, will be WIFT member, Lindsay Shelton, author of “The Selling of New Zealand Movies”.
Park Road Post on September 22nd at 6.30pm.
