James will discuss the process of creating a dramatic and compelling movie trailer and how the techniques involved can be applied to focus your pitch, engage your audience and present your material in the most effective manner.
BIO:
James Brookman has been in the motion picture marketing business for nearly thirty years serving as an editor, producer, writer and director. Prior to his move to New Zealand he owned a movie trailer production company in Los Angeles that marketed prestigious and challenging independent, foreign language and documentary films to US audiences and American films in the international marketplace.
Over the years James has worked with the finest filmmakers, marketers and distributors creating hundreds of powerful and effective campaigns that have engaged audiences worldwide. He is a frequent script, editorial and marketing consultant and has lectured at Auckland University, UNITEC, Southseas Film and Television School, SPADA (Screen Production and Development Association), WIFT (Women in Film and Television) and the Documentary Edge Forum. James has been profiled in Filmmaker Magazine, on The Independent Film Channel and on Radio New Zealand. His work has been honoured by The Golden Trailer Awards, The Telly Awards and The Hollywood Reporter Key Art Awards.

CoLab is an interdisciplinary creative technology centre. It aims to facilitate and promote creative practices, research and development, knowledge sharing, innovation and collaboration.
