Music for Holy Week
The cavernous acoustic of Wellington Cathedral of St Paul will once again ring with the sounds of The Tudor Consort’s annual Good Friday presentation of Music for Holy Week.
This year the programme is built around selections from Tomás Luis de Victoria’s Tenebrae Responsories. These masterful works depict the pain and suffering of the Passion in a style which is simple, intensely felt and unmistakably Spanish. Add Johannes Brahms’ last choral works, the Drei Motetten Op.110, and Antonio Lotti’s famed Crucifixus à 8, and you have a dramatic evening of choral music.
