The Open Studios Project - See, Talk, Make ART
This summer the doors of the Rotorua Arts Village will be open and the place jam-packed with activity, thanks to a new initiative for 2011, the Artists Open Studios project.
Officially there will be eight resident artists working in all of the ground floor studios. Two are international artists – Noni Choi, from Korea and Nina Maika – MAIO from Brisbane (Maori Artist in OZ), as well as locally based artists Bridget Thornton, Julie Voss, Pamela Lines, Adrienne Whitewood, and Rebecca Farren.
The project is free to visitors, with generous sponsorship coming from Arts Residencies Rotorua a collaboration between the Rotorua Trust, RDC and the Arts Village. Tuesday to Saturdays 11-3 at the Rotorua Arts Village, 1240 Hinemaru Street. www.rave.org.nz

The Rotorua Arts Village previously known as RAVE, is an Arts Hub, where artists, groups, professionals and amateurs focused on art and culture in Rotorua can come and participate.
A complex of studios, meeting rooms and kitchens, the Village provides facilities for art groups to get together day or night for a wide variety of art classes for all ages and levels of skill.
Two Galleries provide opportunity for artists to showcase their work, while the spacious grounds play host to a range of arts-related festivals and events throughout the year.
