Shen Yun Performing Arts
This highly-acclaimed performance of Chinese traditional music and dance has delighted audiences worldwide. Once again the Shen Yun orchestra - which features both Chinese and Western instruments - will treat Auckland audiences to an innovative and splendid blend of musical virtuosity.
In many ways, a performance by Shen Yun is traditional Chinese culture as it was meant to be - a study in grace, wisdom and all the virtues distilled from five millennia of Chinese civilization. Today, the artists of Shen Yun follow in this noble tradition, presenting an experience of utmost purity and grace.
With over twenty dynasties and fifty ethnic groups to draw upon, Shen Yun portrays an astounding repertory of dance and music. The show's colourful folk and ethnic pieces can take audiences from the northern steppes of Mongolia to the lush, green forests of Yunnan. The dramatic story-based dances bring to life ancient legends like those of heroine Mulan and General Yue Fei, as well as modern-day stories like the tragic persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China.
